Maria and Chris check these out:

If you have never used a telescope before and don't know how to navigate the heavens, and are interested in astronomy, a good idea is to buy an electronic goto telescope. This has many advantages, such as you can set it up, start using it, and don't have to learn about the sky. All you do is key in Jupiter's code for example, and the telescope zooms to the location. Within seconds, you are seeing Jupiter, and you didn't have to spend a long time looking for co-ordinates, and then trying to find it.

My recommendations are to buy a Meade ETX. A good beginners version is the Meade ETX-80.

You can buy through these links, and help support our site:

For the US: Meade ETX-80 AT TC Astro Telescopes w/ Autostar Computer Controller & Meade Tripod Models: Meade ETX-80 AT-TC-BB Astro Telescope Autostar w/ Light Tripod, Backpack

Chris check this out for the UK For the UK, it's £378.00 and is a pretty decent Meade telescope with GoTo functionality:
Meade ETX-90PE UHTC Telescope Package

Chris some good news! I've checked around, and found a CCD camera that you can use to take pictures with the telescope. It is in the US, however at a price of $299 and a saving of $600, it is a sweet bargain.

With your £600 budget, you can easily get both, and start imaging today!

I have a 675x power "Reflector" telescope made by Science Tech, and last night I was aimed at our moon. I was getting a pretty good image of it, but I notice that the smallest movement of the telescope would throw off the image, however my question is how difficult would it be for me to find a planet or a star that I can line it up so i can get an image? I've tryed numerus times before and still have not found anything, its just a black image. So if you have any tips or suggestions that would be much appreciated.

ps: I'm will be purchasing your book, its just that I would like my question to be answered so I can get started in the mean time.
