Thoughts On Dobsonian Telescopes

Telescopes have pretty much stayed the same over the last few hundred years. Galileo invented his telescope, then we had Newton make his reflector. And pretty much telescopes have stayed the same. Today, however, Dobsonian telescopes are a new design (well maybe not so new, but newer than Galileo’s!), and one which is making an impact in amateur astronomy, and amateur telescope making.

The sky is filled with many wondrous objects, which have fascinated man since ancient history. Galileo invented the telescope in 1609 and changed life on the planet. With the invention of his device, man was able to study, view and calculate the movements of the heavens as never before. Since then their have been many makers of telescopes, but the Dobsonian telescope design brought astronomy to the masses like never before.
