A History Of Celestron Telescopes - Day 2
Today we will continue looking at Celestron telescopes. If you have not read yesterdays post, read it to understand the first origins of Celestron telescopes.
Valor Electronics was born, and shortly after was renamed Celestron. He kept building telescopes as there was a demand. People wanted quality telescopes, and Celestron telescopes do indeed fulfil that need. Celestron telescopes are a good investment. Not only has Celestron been around since 1960, but Celestron telescopes have won awards, seen many firsts and have been used by professional astronomers.
When Celestron, at the time called Valor Electronics was making telescopes, they needed to make each one by hand. There was no technology that allowed the mass production. However by 1970, Tom Johnson and his talented team had found ways to mass produce the telescopes.
This was an important milestone. Telescopes are scientific instruments, and require a lot of attention, after all, they are instruments designed to bring objects millions and billions of light years away closer! This mass production meant that prices could be brought down. And as the price went down, more people could afford to buy a telescope.
Join me tomorrow, as we look at the last part of Celestron telescopes and all there other products.
