How To Use A Telescope
For many people buying a telescope, actually being able to use that telescope effectively can often be a difficult task to the person new to astronomy. Quite simply you need a map of the sky and how to get to see those illustrious objects in the heavens.
A telescope map and guide on how to use a telescope is an absolute necessity. There are 500 billion objects in space known to man; though it is not as simple as pointing up at the sky and looking where you see the dots! Looking at for example a Nebula; a nebula looks like a cloud and seeing such an object through your new telescope may need you knowing what to look for.
Most tellescopes which you can buy may not have the information you need to get started in astronomy. My first telescope was a Tasco, and these telescopes, though provide good information for basics, are no good for the kind of star gazing we would like to do.
The best information for star gazing I have found is in a book called Turn Left At Orion. This book is truly an amazing piece of work and allows anyone to know how to find the best of the objects in the sky, by the time you finish with the book.
When I first bought my proper telescope (i.e. one which actually allowed me to see deep space objects) I realized that apart from looking at the moon, I needed something which could help me find these objects with my telescope. An astronomy shop sales person, suggested I read Turn Left At Orion.
When I went through Turn Left At Orion, I found that I could make use of my telescope to its best.
